Vaccination against COVID-19 and the flu
Vaccines against COVID-19 and the flu is crucial for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities due to their higher risks of fighting illnesses and spreading viruses to their housemates.
Gabriel Homes residents received their annual fall vaccinations to protect themselves from COVID-19 and the flu.
Staff organized the appointments and ensured everyone was comfortable when they received their vaccines.
“We face a big challenge getting our residents vaccinated. Residents celebrate the holidays by going to festivities, so our goal is to have their immune systems at their strongest. Thankfully, Gabriel Homes has a fantastic staff, who helped with transportation and paperwork.”
Beth Hoyos, Director of Quality Assurance and Clinical Oversight
Getting vaccines in October prepares your body for the colder months ahead when illness cases spike.
Residents are always encouraged to ask questions about vaccinations and how they protect patients from illness. Gabriel Homes believes in a supportive environment that promotes understanding and open conversations.
