RESIDENT GRIEVANCES: HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS, DISCRIMINATION, AND OTHER

The ability of and procedure for residents to grieve or complain about any perceived denial of their human rights and/or possible discrimination is set out GHI’s Human Rights Policy and shall be followed by GHI personnel.

If a resident has a concern or complaint other than those mentioned above that he or she wishes to seek a resolution of, he or she may bring it to the attention of any staff member. Such staff member shall inform the Directors of any such matter that has been raised.

GHI staff persons will make a good faith effort to resolve the matter raised by a resident and shall report any resolution or lack thereof to the Directors.

Documentation of the matter raised, and its resolution shall be included in the resident’s record.

If staff are unable to resolve said matter to resident’s satisfaction, the resident or his or her legally authorized representative may request GHI’s Directors to attempt resolution through an alternative dispute resolution method such as mediation.
